Tall growing native of South Africa, with whorls of bright fuzzy orange flowers mid-summer thru fall. Excellent for hummingbirds, and as a cut flower.

It can grow 4 to 6 feet tall, and 3 to 4 feet wide, and if kept pruned to look tidy it is quite a beautiful plant. It is only hardy to Zone 8, otherwise grow as an annual. It prefers full sun, and dry well drained soil.

It is also known as wild dagga, and if you look online you will find that it is a mild hallucinogen, and many people smoke it as a 'legal' high. It was smoked by females in East African tribes. Lion's Mane is another name - I guess it depends which direction the lion is going!
